"I am extremely grateful and appreciative for the amazing work of the College Admissions Network (C.A.N.). It is simply a wonderful private, nonprofit educational mentoring program dedicated to informing and engaging young people on all matters related to students' understanding of the college admissions process, expectations in college, and making the best choices regarding their post-secondary plans. C.A.N. is a wonderful community resource, it provides a unique support for to our "at-risk" populations, moving beyond traditional approaches to develop our next generation of learners and leaders. I am honored to have Paul Robeson High School associated with such an amazing mentoring experience."

"I loved this program, as it helped me a lot. Being a first generation to go to college in USA, I was confused since I had no one to guide me through the process. However, this program not only guided me, but gave me a great advisor who thought of my applications as hers and worked very hard."

Mariam
"I would like to give all of the coordinators and mentors of the program a big thanks because without this program I would have been way behind in the college application process."

Resilda
"Thank you for accepting me into this program! It has been very helpful throughout the college process! "This program was very beneficial to me as a senior during this complicated year. Thank you for telling us about this program Mr. Frank and thank you to everyone working with the CAN Program."

"I remember how daunting the college application process was and I would love to be able to ease the stress of that for whoever I can."

"Representation is important, especially in the lives of children of color. If children are exposed to mentors who look like them and are various career paths, then they are more likely to see themselves pursuing those career paths. I would like to be a CAN advisor because I want to be a mentor for younger people, like others have been a mentor to me."

"My entire life would've played out differently if I didn't have a college advisor that believed in me. As a matter of fact, my first on didn't, suggesting that I apply to lower ranked schools and not pursue the Ivy League. My second advisor gave me unconditional support to get me to where I am today; to be that figure for another young person would be an honor."

"I believe it’s my duty to give back to society. Many people helped me with my college applications and now it’s my turn to help others too. I know how stressful of an experience it can be and having someone to help you and advise you through it can make the process a lot easier."

Jonathan
"I was a part of this program last year and I had a great time. I would love to be a part of this again. I enjoy helping others, especially those younger than me through mentorship. Children are the future and it's vital to help get them in better positions. This holds substantial moral weight to me as I am also a black student who grew up in Philadelphia."

"In the period of uncertainty that we are living in now, I feel that it’s especially important to provide guidance to these seniors and I’d love to be a part of that. Be it editing essays or giving advice, I’ll be of assistance to the students in whatever way possible."

Katrina
"The college process unfairly benefits those with resources and means. As someone who did not have that privilege, I am dedicated to providing resources, advice, and time I’m hopes of minimizing the gap. I have previously taught workshops for applying to college, finding financial aid etc. I would be fully dedicated to connect and mentor these students especially in these unprecedented times."

"As the older cousin of many high school students, I am very familiar with how stressful the college process is. I know that I would have greatly appreciated an older peer’s guidance as I searched and applied for colleges. YES is great opportunity for me to share some of the lessons I learned through my process and make an impact on someone’s college career."

"For as long as I can remember, I have been passionate about my role to ameliorate the inequalities faced by Black and Latino children in our country. I even study Urban Education as my minor and am pursuing a career in education advocacy. I have been fortunate enough to receive guidance through the college process and I hope to serve others in that same way."
